Holidays Could Spell Big Savings for Anglers USSFN 11/15/2002 - This holiday season could be a great shopping time for savvy fishermen and boaters. With the recent problems on our west coast docks, and the resulting late shipments to retailers, look for special holiday packaged tackle to be reduced as some of it may not get to the retailers' shelves until mid-December. Couple this with the nation's traditional light spending with the threat of war upon us and you can expect to see some nervous merchants. Recreational spending is typically hard hit during trying times like these, and sales slow downs in the fishing tackle industry is no exception. Late shipments and tight spending by consumers could make for some overstock reduction sales during the holidays. It will be interesting to see what happens this season. - Jim |
