Ouachita Parish Visitor's Alert USSFN 6/14/03 - Visitors to Northern Louisiana might want to read this Visitor's Alert from the Ouachita Parish Mosquito Abatement District. This was published to "make visitors aware that the West Nile Virus is prevalent throughout the state of Louisiana. As of early May, there have already been both birds and mosquitoes which have tested positive for WNV in Ouachita parish." "Even with the abatement measures that are being taken by the staff of the Ouachita Parish Mosquito Abatement District, it is very likely that you may still encounter mosquitoes as you go about your outdoor activities. As a precaution, we strongly encourage you to follow the safety suggestions listed below.
If you desire more information you may contact the OPMAD at 318-323-3535." |
