Wal-Mart FLW Update:  Events Set to Commence

Shreveport, LA:  9/9/02 - The Pros from the Chevy Truck Team will meet and greet FLW fans at Chevy Land (7500 Youree Drive) this evening marking the official beginning of the 2002 Wal-Mart FLW World Championship of Bass Fishing on Cross Lake Events Schedule here in Sheveport, LA. The actual tourney will begin 9/11 taking off daily at 7:00 a.m. from the Lowe McFarland American Legion Boat Ramp.

Weigh-Ins will be held at the Pines Road Wal-Mart (located at I-20 & Pines Rd) Wed-Thur at 3:30 p.m., Friday at 5:00 p.m., and the Final weigh-in will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. OLN Adventure TV will be televising the event as well.  Kids of all ages may visit the Family Fun Zone at the Pines Road Wal-Mart Friday 9/13 at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday 9/14 at 11 a.m.  Free kids activities, prizes, Pepsi and snacks, and a trout pond will be featured.

Practice for the tournament was hindered Saturday and Sunday with near horizontal rain and strong winds.  Some see it as a mixed blessing as this pushed the already low water level up slightly in Cross Lake making it easier to get into some spots.  According to an official at the National Weather Bureau here in Shreveport, the rain we're seeing is the remnants of Tropical Storm Edward being pushed inland as Tropical Storm Fay pushes slowly toward land.  Conditions could become very interesting by the Wednesday takeoff.  One thing is for sure;  the $260,00 1st place cash award will be hard earned and well deserved this year. - Jim
